He was a past president and board member of our affiliate group, the Polish American Arts Association of Washington DC.
Edward Pawlowski ObituaryIt is with sorrow that we inform you of the death of Dr. Edward Jan Paul Pawlowski (Lt. Colonel, U.S. Army, retired), on Thursday, February 20, 2014 . At the time of his death, Dr. Pawlowski was a member of the Board of Directors of the Washington Metropolitan Area Division of the Polish American Congress on which he served for over a decade. He was recipient of the Division's Award of Recognition in 2012. The Polish American Arts Association of Washington benefitted from his term as President and his continuing service with its scholarship, nominating, and Chopin Concert committees, as well as his service to the American Council for Polish Culture. For 20 years he volunteered weekly at the White House in the Office of Presidential Correspondence, and served as an usher and Eucharistic minister for shut-ins at St. Mark's parish.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark R.C. Catholic Church, 9970 Vale Rd., Vienna, VA 22181 on Monday, February 24 at 11 a.m. Attendees are invited to meet with the family at a reception at the parish hall after the service.
Dr. Pawlowski is survived by his daughter Edleen Bergelt, son Edward, and their families. His wife, the late Janice Pikul, died in 1988.
