Easter 2025

Flowery palms, pussy willows, intricately decorated pisanki, beautifully arranged baskets of food taken to church to be blessed on Saturday, morning Mass on Sunday, then Święconka with traditional foods, sugar and butter lambs, babki, mazurki and poppy seed cakes. Like other holidays in Poland, Wielkanoc (Great Night, as Easter is known in Polish) is laden with traditions. A religious holiday celebrating the Resurrection of Christ three days after His Crucifixion, it has its solemn part with a promise of life and joy of renewal. There is also a whimsical part to the holiday during the period before and after, such as Śmigus Dyngus or lany poniedziałek the Monday after or the drowning of Marzanna on the fourth Sunday of Lent. Looking through the Facebook pages or websites of our member organizations, we find plans for or reports on events that celebrate the age-old Polish traditions. This is a part of the ACPC mission! In this spirit I send you my best wishes for a joyful holiday and a beautiful spring:

Wesołego Alleluja, Happy Easter, and may peace prevail in the world.
